We are now looking for a Robot Technician who will provide in-depth technical support for our robots as well as to our operators, handlers and partners. You will also execute start-of-day or end-of-day charging and cleaning of the robot fleet.
You will know everything there is to know about our Starship robots and will be able to fix any technical problems they encounter – even if it requires flying it to the other side of the world for the day!
Your main responsibilities are:
Technical Tasks:
- 40% - Maintaining the health of our global fleet of robots through daily maintenance and repair tasks. Which can include but is not limited to - diagnosing unforeseen problems, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and repairing or replacing faulty equipment (tires, electronics, motors, etc.).
- 20% - Carrying out preventative maintenance activities and upgrades on robots and infrastructure. Monitoring and servicing our internal systems, running tests and completing reports, and completing updates or improvements to existing systems as appropriate.
- 10% - Perform root cause analysis to identify the causes of faults or problems and systematically develop a solution to prevent/solve underlying issues.
Operational Tasks:
- 15% Responsible for operational service. You will be accountable for the morning roll-out of robots to service areas, or the end-of-day sanitation and ensuring robots are cleaned and charging.
- 10% Observing robots remotely and being ready to assist robots in unexpected situations (accidents, field and Unforeseen failures). Reading repair manuals and liaising with other professionals. Report any issues to the onsite team and create a failure ticket.
- 5% Transporting the robot to delivery areas by ebike or foot (which may include some occasional lifting of up to 70 lbs).
Minimum Qualifications:
- A passion for robots and innovative technologies.
- Previous experience in managing a large fleet of devices.
- Knowledge of Unix, SSH /Linux systems, CLI tools and scripting.
- Previous experience in Technical Support and with any service desk application.
- Good knowledge regarding mechanics, electronics and IT.
- Proven work experience in enterprise technical support, IT support or as a technical engineer.
- Ability to use hand and power tools.Excellent client-facing skills and active listening skills.
- Ability to travel. May need to travel up to 20% of your time as part of your regular duties to assist as we expand launching new Universities.
- Ability to multitask and liaise with professionals in different fields.
- Ability to explain problems simply and clearly.
Experience & Education Requirements:
- Knowledge of Unix/Linux systems, CLI tools, and scripting preferred, but not required.
- Hobby projects in electronics or mechanics.
- Previous experience in managing a large fleet of devices.
Physical Requirements:
- Office work.
- Movement ability to frequent usage of wrists, hands and finger dexterity to movements such as constant typing.
- Occasional lifting of items with weight up to 70 lbs.
