Overview:

We are inviting applications for a full-time, twelve-month position of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs ( ADAA ) at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in the College of Health and Human Sciences ( CHHS ). CHHS is home to five academic schools: Allied Health and Communicative Disorders, Family and Consumer Sciences, Health Studies, Interdisciplinary Health Professions, and Nursing. Collectively, these schools house 23 programs, three clinics and a Child Development and Family Center and partner with over 900 external practicum sites. Through an impressive array of programs, CHHS prepares scholars, leaders and practitioners who enhance the lives of individuals, families and communities across the lifespan.

DeKalb is a diverse and growing community providing residents with a small-town feel and the benefits of a large university. Located in a peri-urban region adjacent to the Chicago metropolitan area, NIU faculty and students live in communities throughout the western Chicago suburbs, city of Rockford and other small towns within driving distance throughout northern IL. The recently revitalized downtown city of DeKalb offers shops, restaurants, and amenities, and business investment is evident in DeKalb's Chicago West Business park whose residents include companies such as Facebook/Meta, Ferrara Candy and Kraft/Heinz .

Position Summary:

The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs ( ADAA ) supports the College of Health and Human Sciences ( CHHS ) by providing oversight of student services, curriculum, clinical education, and accreditation. The ADAA will positively contribute to the missions of the college, university, and community. We seek leaders who embrace NIU's mission of providing opportunity to a diverse student body by providing them with access to high quality education and hands-on involvement in research and community engagement as well as supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion across collaborations and interactions with faculty, staff, and others throughout the university and external community.
