Junior/Assistant Specialist - Leach Lab

Position Overview:
A reasonable estimate for this position is $51,300/year for Step 1 and $54,700/year for Step 2 for Junior Specialist exempt, $24.57 hourly for Step 1 and $26.20 hourly for Step 2 for Junior Specialist non-exempt
$59,800-$66,200/year for Assistant Specialist exempt,, and $28.64-$31.71 hourly for Assistant Specialist non-exempt.


The Leach lab at UC Davis Health School of Medicine Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, an academic/clinical department, encompassing several sub-specialties, is seeking a (Junior/Assistant) Specialist to contribute to an array of projects aimed at improving musculoskeletal health.

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery invites applications from qualified candidates for a (Junior/Assistant) Specialist position (full-time or part-time) in orthopaedic research. The Specialist will assist with research projects involving the development of engineered approaches to restore and regenerate lost bone, muscle, and cartilage. We use an array of tools including stem and progenitor cells from mice to humans, biomaterials, drug delivery, mechanical testing, and histological analysis of regenerated tissues. Our long-term goal is to develop strategies to prevent and reverse musculoskeletal injuries and disease.

The Leach lab offers an inclusive, multidisciplinary, and collaborative work environment. Currently, the lab is composed of one postdoctoral fellow, eight graduate students, and six undergraduate researchers. We frequently engage multiple clinicians in support of our projects. We strive to conduct cutting edge research at the forefront of orthopaedic research. We also encourage and offer full mentoring support for grad/med school applications.

The incumbent will work under the direction of Dr. Kent Leach.
