Summer 2024 Internship: This position is located in Frisco (Dallas), TX. Expected program dates are May 20 – August 16, 2024.
Job Title: Cybersecurity Engineering Intern
Introduction The Cybersecurity Engineering intern will support custom software solutions for some of the world’s largest retailers. In this role, the intern will be responsible for participating as a member of Toshiba PSIRT (Product Security Incident Response Team). They will be assisting software developers and security architects in their day-to-day activities related to product security, as well as helping to automate repeatable security processes. This includes integration of the security tools with the centralized security issues management systems. They will help with the implementation and updating of Product Security tooling. Responsibilities also include execution of pre-triaging of the security submissions and evaluation of the security reports on completeness. Assist with the security architecture reviews and documenting security issues. Research information security topics, tools, techniques, and threats as directed. Work on the documentation of the information security processes under general direction. Conduct periodic access control inventory and assessments. Perform other related duties as required or assigned. Monitor existing tickets and assist the resolution. Know how to find answers. Understand available tools and resources to determine correct answers to cybersecurity issues.
Required Skills - Currently pursuing Computer Science/Engineering/Cybersecurity major in Undergraduate or Postgraduate studies.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, team-based environment.
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and trends.
- Effective verbal and written communication; able to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
Preferred Skills - Knowledge of cybersecurity methodologies, standards, and tools.
- Knowledge or/and experience with security testing tools (SAST, DAST, SCA).
Responsibilities - Assist in a subset of the following areas as assigned:
- Automating repeatable security processes.
- Integrating security tools with the centralized security issues management systems.
- Implementing and maintaining the Product Security tooling.
- Assisting with the security architecture reviews and documenting security issues.
- Researching information security topics, tools, techniques, and threats.
- Documenting information security processes.
- Conducting periodic access control inventories and assessments.
- Conducting security testing of applications and environments.
- Monitor existing tickets and assisting with resolution.
- Participate in the design, development, implementation, testing, and maintenance of systems supporting a variety of applications and business-critical functionality.
- Work directly within the agile development team and stakeholders to help with existing requirements, adhere to timelines, and meet deliverables.
- Learn about TGCS product offerings and how clients use them.
- Learn about how TGCS products go from an idea to a fully-fledged product.
