Contract Specialist – Construction Management Firm - Base Salary to 90k/year – Long Island City, NY
- Our client provides construction management services, delivering maximum results for clients in multiple market sectors across the northeastern U.S. Founded in 2002, they serve as the owner’s representative and advocate through all phases of a project under a variety of delivery methods. They have spent the past 20 years building their reputation for quality through a proven track record of hundreds of successful K-12 schools, colleges/universities, and municipal/public sector projects throughout the tri-state region.
- Currently, they are seeking a Contract Specialist to join their growing team and work out of their Long Island City Office, reporting to the Program Manager. The primary responsibility of the Contract Specialist is to draft, review, and negotiate various contracts, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements, primarily focusing on professional services agreements.
- Handle Contractor communications including responses to letters, notices of extra work, and time extensions.
- Develop strategies and draft formal responses to Contractor claims and disputes; lead negotiations for reconciliation of contractual force account budgets.
- Collaborate with Technical Leads to ensure contractual compliance for change order work.
- Aid internal clients with our standard contract templates and existing agreements with external parties.
- Contribute to refining company templates, playbooks, and guidance documents.
- Support department-wide efforts to organize, manage, and archive contracts and agreement templates.
- Participate in special projects aimed at process improvement and policy enhancement.
- Assist in developing negotiation strategies and conduct negotiations in a non-confrontational manner.
- Promote the use of standard contract practices across the company, emphasizing continuous improvement.
- Help enforce compliance in daily operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Associate's degree in a related field is required.
- 5+ years of experience as a Contract Specialist, involving drafting, reviewing, and negotiating engineering, architecture, consulting, or professional services agreements.
- Proficiency in comprehending and enforcing project requirements outlined in contract documents.
- Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Prior project management experience, especially with special projects.
- Demonstrated capability in managing contract volumes and overseeing contract flow.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality and reliable work in all tasks.
