Position Description
Tacoma Public Utilities is looking for someone to join our team as a Senior Communications and Marketing Analyst. This role serves as an account manager for power conservation, electric vehicles, and other utility programs. This position works with internal customers and the Communications team to develop marketing and communications strategies for assigned customer programs, write and implement annual and campaign plans, oversee media buys and promotional budgets, create and coordinate all related content, and measure the success of recommended tactics.
Primary Responsibilities:
Serve as a single point of contact for communications and marketing strategies to power conservation, electrification, and other utility programs
Identify customer needs and develop communications and marketing strategies and plans
Write and edit digital and print materials to promote customer programs
Participate in department-wide strategic communication planning and ensure that activities align with strategies
Compile data, develop metrics, and prepare reports for assigned programs and internal customers
Collaborate with Communications team and graphic designers on web content updates, social media posts, print and other materials for assigned programs
Work with media buying agency to develop and manage advertising campaigns
Identify target audiences and venues for reaching goals
Create and collaborate on advertising deliverables
Qualifications
Minimum Education*
Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, marketing or directly related field
Minimum Experience*
4 years of public information, community engagement/outreach and/or marketing experience.
*Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education
Knowledge & Skills
Ability to plan strategically and implement plans on a timeline.
Demonstrate a high level of accountability for meeting deadlines and following processes.
Ability to manage a high volume of projects and perform under pressure.
Agency experience or proven ability to consult on marketing strategies.
Experience successfully using Asana or similar project management tool.
Exceptional writing and editing skills and understanding of matching content to a variety of channels.
Experience establishing performance metrics, analyzing data, and reporting on performance of communications.
Relationship building skills.
Demonstrated success performing advanced, diverse communication strategies in an efficient, accurate, collaborative, and courteous manner.
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Ability to work a full-time schedule Monday through Friday with core hours between 8:00am and 5:00pm, and with the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends

Other Employment Information
Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.
Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.
Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
