Job description
Overview of Position:
Maintain accurate and efficient system for tracking and processing of samples into Analytical Food Laboratories from check-in at the facility through disposal utilizing Laboratory Information Management System and other procedures and protocols in adherence to the standards of ISO/IEC 17025, NELAC, and all other accrediting/certifying agencies.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Basic knowledge of computer operation, data entry skills . Science and/or customer service background is a plus.
Responsibilities:
Interface with clients, vendors and all laboratory departments to ensure that all samples are properly received, labeled, documented, tracked, and routed through the laboratory in a timely manner in accordance with ISO 17025 standards.
Be familiar with all laboratory procedures, records, and documentation necessary.
Performance of basic lab duties.
Job Duties:
Receive samples from couriers and various delivery agencies.
Review sample(s) and any attached documentation for completion and accuracy.
Delivery of samples to appropriate departments within AFL.
Store sample(s) in appropriate conditions and dispose after allotted time frame.
Assist lab personnel in retrieving of sample(s) for relative purposes, such as retesting requirements.
Assist clients with submittal of samples to laboratory.
Assist in preparation and analysis of samples, including grinding/blending and weighing samples according to the specifications of method.
Assist with the preparation and holding of storage studies.
Perform routine cleaning/sanitizing/disinfecting throughout laboratory.
Perform opening/closing of sample management department in accordance with Quality Management System.
Assist laboratory with paperwork management.
Perform additional duties as required.
