Job description

The mission of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.

The primary purpose of the Director, CPMO is to serve as Talent Pillar Lead for the CPMO and a Priority Director for assigned institutional priorities within the Chief Operating Officer Project Management Office. This position actively identifies the talent requirements including resourcing skilling, forecasting, staffing, and utilization.
This role ensures the delivery of priorities from implementation to sustainability and including deliverables are on time, within budget, and to meet the desired business objectives.

KEY FUCTIONS

• Interpret and articulate COO priorities, ensuring a clear understanding and alignment across the organization.
• Define the workforce and resource capacity required for the next quarter, making necessary adjustments to accommodate changing priorities and demands within the Talent Pillar.
• Evaluate the resource requirements for priority initiatives, considering both quantitative and qualitative aspects to ensure effective support.
• Specify the appropriate skill levels and number of resources required to meet the demands of priority initiatives, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
• Clearly define and communicate the roles and responsibilities of PMO resources located in satellite offices or teams, ensuring alignment with overall priorities.
• Recognize and define the specific skills required for resources within the CPMO, ensuring alignment with the evolving needs of priority initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Human Resources department to identify and address training needs for CPMO resources, ensuring continuous skill development and alignment with priority goals.
• Maintain high level understanding of resource capabilities for alignment to project/program/priority needs.
• Work with CPMO and Priorities to define strategic communication plan across CPMO and to the institution
• Develop standardized high-level communication templates where needed
• Work with Leadership Institute on strategies for Change Enablement including implantation of ABLE model for priorities.
• Evaluate and analyze the budget allocated to talent-related initiatives on a quarterly basis, ensuring financial alignment with strategic goals and objectives.
• Distribute the annual budget among various priority initiatives, considering strategic goals, resource requirements, and overall financial considerations.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree in related field.

Preferred Education: Masters in related field.

Preferred Certification: Project Management Professional (PMP)® Certification

Experience: 7 years of related project/program management experience to include 5 years of strategic leadership responsibilities.

Preferred Experience: Project management in a complex healthcare setting, MS Project, advanced MS Office skills
