Job Description

The Director of Emergency Management reports into the Executive Director, Corporate Security and leads, oversees and coordinates operations and services of Westgate Resorts’ Emergency Management program; supervises the work of assigned staff; implements program goals and objectives; and performs a variety of administrative and professional tasks in support of assigned area of responsibility. This position requires availability to be on call 24hours and travel in and out of state as needed. While this position does not have direct supervision on any number of team members, the Director of Emergency Management will work with all properties to prepare and put in place their emergency management programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, training, planning, assigning, and directing work.

Supervisory Responsibilities

While this position does not have direct supervision on any number of team members, the Director of Emergency Management will work with all properties to prepare and put in place their emergency management programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, training, planning, assigning, and directing work.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The team member is occasionally required to sit. The team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Language Skills

Excellent written and oral communication skills, must speak, read, and write English fluently. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety and security rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Experience creating presentations and reports for both management and other Company departments.

Mathematical Skills

The ability to add, subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. The ability to perform these operations, using units of American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Abilities

The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Work Environment

The Director of Emergency Management must be able to work any shift, (day or night), and be on call and available 24 hours. Must be flexible to travel in and out of state as needed. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
