VDOT’s Fredericksburg District has exciting an opportunity available in its Human Resources Department. We are seeking qualified candidates to fill a Human Resources Consultant position. This position provides professional support in areas of talent acquisition, policy interpretation, classification and compensation. This position
This position is an hourly/wage position. Wage employees may not work more than 29 hours per work week on average over the course of a year and are limited to 1,500 hours withing a 12-month period. No state benefits are provided.
Required skills for job & position:
• Skill in providing good customer service
• Ability to collect, assemble, process and file information using manual and automated
systems
• Skill in operating office equipment and a variety of Microsoft Office Suite software
• Ability to always maintain confidentiality
Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse audiences and to make
presentations and conduct meetings
• Knowledge of HR practices and principles
Additional Considerations
• A combination of training, experience, or education in human resources or related field
desired
• Experience in event planning
• Experience with leave administration

This position is classified as “designated” to emergency operations and may be required to work outside of normal work hours, on weekends and holidays during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather, disaster response and emergency operations to ensure the safety of the traveling public.
