Region Coordinator

Primary Function: The job of Energy Management Systems Technician is done for the purpose/s of maintaining a variety of energy management systems, e.g. heating, air conditioning, etc.; identifying repair/replacement needs necessary to maintain equipment and systems; providing appropriate documentation required by other personnel and for conforming to regulations; and monitoring and programming energy systems.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Educational Level:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred; Targeted job-related education that meets the prerequisite requirements of the district.

2. Certification/Licenses Required:

Valid Driver's License; EPA HVAC Certification Exam preferred; Maintain Certificates and/or Licenses.

3. Experience:

Any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work.

4. Physical Activities:

Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities

5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: safety measures; knowledge of microcomputers; and energy control systems.

SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks using existing skills. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: using safety procedures.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment.

Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1.

Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.

2.

Analyzes a variety of drawings (e.g. new and existing electrical systems, etc.) for the purpose of determining the efficient installation of additional systems.

3.

Designs and maintains energy management systems for the purpose on ensuring responsible, efficient use of school district funding.

4.

Diagnoses basic problems and failures in heating, and air conditioning systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and systems repair and replacement needs.

5.

Installs electrical systems on low and/or high voltage power (e.g. underground electrical conduit, switchboards, etc.) for the purpose of providing updated, enhanced and/or upgraded energy management capabilities.

6.

Orients school personnel for the purpose of providing necessary information on the proper uses of the equipment.

7.

Performs work under a variety of conditions (e.g. heights requiring use of extension ladder or hydraulic lift, etc.) for the purpose of completing electrical repairs and installations.

8.

Programs all energy management system computers for the purpose of adjusting the energy management programs for maximum efficiency.

9.

Provides climate controls to all school district buildings for the purpose of ensuring comfort and efficient use of energy within facilities.

10.

Records reports (e.g. work order, EPA logs, estimates, repair logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting information for other personnel.

11.

Requests equipment and supplies (e.g. replacement parts, thermostats, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items.

12.

Responds to emergency situation (e.g. power outages, HVAC failure, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.

13.

Transports various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.

14.

Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
