Description
This position reports to the Director of Technical Accounting and Finance Risk Analytics, as a technical accounting lead responsible for providing technical accounting support on various transactions, maintaining the Company's accounting policies, and assisting in new accounting standards implementation. This position will serve as an internal consultant on accounting related issues with various functions and lines of business.
Position Accountabilities
- Responsible for researching relevant technical accounting topics and documenting results in position papers to be shared with management, internal auditors, external auditors, and regulators.
- Manage the Company's accounting policies ensuring they continue to be relevant as US GAAP guidance and the business evolves.
- Stay abreast of existing and emerging financial accounting and reporting principles, assessing their applicability to the Company, and proactively advising relevant groups.
- Assist in the technical accounting assessment for mergers & acquisition activities.
- Perform other complex accounting periodic assessments, including goodwill and other intangibles, consolidation, segment reporting, derivatives transactions, stock based compensation, allowance for credit losses.
- Liaise with the SEC reporting group, Line of Business Finance team to support business activities, including new products and complex transactions, providing accounting guidance and best practice recommendations.
- Liaise with the SEC Reporting team to support the external reporting process by evaluating the disclosure requirements for certain complex accounting areas and new accounting standard updates, including drafting new footnote disclosures.
- Interact with external auditors on technical accounting issues and assist in the support of all annual audits and quarterly reviews.
- Ensure appropriate accounting control procedures are maintained for all relevant process areas.
- Facilitate training on relevant accounting topics as required.
- Maintain a current knowledge base of current industry practices to ensure best practices are always considered.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Position Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (advanced degree preferred).
- CPA required.
- Public accounting experience required.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Minimum three years of related experience, preferably in the financial services industry.
Knowledge & Skills
- Working knowledge of functional area operations, products, services and related compliance/regulations.
- Experienced in applying GAAP to a wide range of transactions.
- Experienced analytical and problem solving skills.
- Advanced PC skills including word processing and spreadsheet, database and automated accounting applications (principally excel).
- Professional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills necessary to provide information and courteous responses to internal and external personnel.
- Willing to support teammates and be a team player.
- Flexible, able to adapt to change and learn quickly.
- Professional written, oral and interpersonal communication skills necessary to provide detailed information and courteous responses to teammates and vendors.
Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
