Organizational Unit Overview:

The Research Administrative Hub on the Health Sciences Campus at East Carolina University includes two Colleges that are part of the Division of Health Sciences: The College of Nursing (CON) and College of Allied Health Sciences (CAHS).CON is comprised of 3 departments: Undergraduate Baccalaureate Education, Advanced Nursing Practice and Education and Nurse Nursing Science. The CON student body is heavily weighted toward graduate education, with help of the college’s students enrolled in graduate programs with a clinical, professional, and/or research emphasis. The college offers a practice doctorate (DNP) and a research doctorate (PhD).

CAHS is comprised of eight departments: Addiction & Rehabilitation Services, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Communication Sciences & Disorders, Health Services and Information Management, Nutrition Science, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant Studies. CAHS offers several undergraduate, graduate, clinical doctorate (DPT and AuD), and research doctorate Job Duties :

For both CON and CAHS, the faculty research enterprise is rapidly expanding. The colleges have a growing portfolio of externally funded grant projects. The colleges’ portfolio of extramural grants is managed through the Hub. The Hub personnel may also be involved in oversight of other research-related funds such as indirect cost accounts, grant-contract reassignment time funds, and faculty startup funds. The Grants Manager reports to the Associate Dean for Research and functions in a largely independent manner day-to-day. The primary purpose of this position is to ensure all grant and contract funding is expended according to the terms of the grant award or contract. This position is responsible for the collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of quantitative information. This position is part of the Research Administrative Hub for the College of Nursing and the College of Allied Health Sciences.

The Grants Manager assists with post-award grant support and administration for faculty and students engaged in a broad range of research and workforce training projects. This position will assist faculty members and students with post-award administration of external federal, industry, and foundation funded grants and contracts, and may also assist or provide oversight for internal research-related accounts such as faculty startup funds, grant-contract reassignment time funds, indirect cost funds, internal college grant awards, graduate student research assistantships, and tuition remissions. This position may also assist with pre-award activities. as well as internal research-related accounts. This diverse portfolio predominantly includes projects funded by extramural grants and contracts from federal, foundation, and state funding sources, faculty startup funds, institutional state funds and indirect cost accounts. The support provided is partly programmatic: strategic planning for growth in research programs and research culture, development of interdisciplinary scientific and clinical research projects, and graduate research training program development, etc.

The Grants Manager serves as a liaison between the Colleges of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences Research Administrative Hub, faculty members and departments, and REDE offices responsible for post-award grant administration, including the Offices of Research Administration, Research Integrity and Compliance, Compliance Monitoring & Strategic Initiatives, as well as other ECU offices of budgetary and fiscal management.

The portfolio for awards in FY2023 include the following: For CON :
3 departments11 pending proposals for a total of ~$5.7M7 HERD and 6 non-HERD awards with CON faculty as PIs or co-Is- ~$1.7M expenditures total

For CAHS :8 departments31 pending proposals for a totals of ~$14M19 HERD and 8 non-HERD awards with CAHS faculty as PIs or co-Is- ~$2.1M expenditures total Minimum Education/Experience :

Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation :

None

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education :

Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field with 5 years of demonstrated experience in a position with comparable grants management, accounting, financial compliance and administrative responsibilities and duties. Demonstrated understanding of partnerships with faculty, senior administrators and external sponsor officials and agencies including federal agencies (e.g., NIH, HRSA, DHS, DOE, NSF, USDA,) and private/corporate sponsors and foundations. Excellent interpersonal, writing and communications skills.
