The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for efficiently and profitably running the departmental operations for the Leasing Region. This position reports to the Regional Director of Leasing and maintains the highest standards in operations creating a foundation for high customer satisfaction and retention.
The Regional Operations Manager is an expert at balancing the competing goals of surpassing customer expectations and controlling departmental costs. This person owns the development, upkeep, and documentation of key process for the service department, rental department, fleet procurement and disposal, and all other administrative functions of the leasing locations. They empower their managers and direct reports, aligning the staff and departments in each facility to exceed our business objectives.
- Develop, measure, and maintain metrics for each part of the business and ensure we surpass our growth and customer satisfaction objectives.
- Standardize processes and work with branches to provide a uniform experience for our customers, ensuring the coordination of prompt, high quality repairs.
- Communicate with key customers as necessary to develop relationships with senior leaders in their operations departments. Use these relationships to meet the changing needs of the business, improve retention, and affect change that improves the customer experience while maintaining gross profit targets.
- Develop internal relationships with key stakeholders with in TEC that allow for a deeper understanding of their different business units. Use this knowledge to develop solutions that advance the leasing department’s agenda in ways that create benefit or limit negative impact to other departments.
- Use industry appropriate tools and techniques (ie. Six Sigma), to develop data driven solutions, when documenting processes, and when driving change.
- Maintain a consistent visitation schedule with leasing branches to ensure location managers and staff are exceeding expectations. Recap these visits with executive summaries for the Director of Leasing.
- Actively work with managers to professionally develop employees in the service department, including structured guidance on skill assessment, training and career paths, cross training, and systems training.
- Develop a system of management to ensure conduct consistent audits of PM inspections and other important repairs for quality and accuracy.
- On a minimum of a monthly basis, analyze the P&L, repair and maintenance data, rental metrics, asset disposal metrics, and telematics data and provide detailed updates of the overall performance of leasing service shops to senior leadership.
- Develop and maintain key metrics that drive the performance of each department with an emphasis on connecting the employee behaviors that drive the business metric and how the business metric drives financial performance.
- Benchmark branches against each other and industry proven tolerance ranges and work with field locations to develop solutions stay within each range.
- Determine problem areas, identify root cause, and develop solutions that improve service shop performance.
- Develop and implement recommendations that lower the operational cost of equipment.
- Identify under-performing fleets and develop action plans with field locations to reduce or limit costs.
- Work closely with our Vendors and Internal Fixed Operations teams to minimize parts spend, optimize inventories, limit inventory leakage, and improve availability of a part when it is needed.
- Review truck specifications for rental and lease orders to ensure and balance the need for
- Develop a system of management for mobile maintenance and repairs that maximizes productivity and train the field branches to adopt this system.
- Build and maintain relationships with key vendors for outside maintenance and repairs, towing, tire management, washing, vehicle up-fitting, etc.
- Actively work with Rental Managers to ensure optimum profit level for market conditions.
- Directly manage fleet procurement and disposal to adjust to seasonal and market conditions using industry benchmarks to ensure the rental fleet size doesn’t grow beyond size thresholds.
- Actively work with rental managers to monitor rates and adjust to maximize monthly revenue per unit.
- Ensure the region’s service shop(s) are equipped with the proper tooling, diagnostic software, and safety equipment. Make sure the department participates in the appropriate training that support the proper use of all tools, diagnostic software, and safety processes.
- Conduct safety checks to ensure worksites meet company safety guidelines and place a high priority on maintaining a safe work environment at all times.
- Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, or related field.
- 7+ years of previous management experience required
- Proven experience leading privately held fleet maintenance programs designed to control cost and maximize uptime
- Proven experience leading shops in multiple locations with varying degrees of sophistication from local shop managers
- P&L experience
- Six Sigma Certifications preferred
- Expert level knowledge of truck repair quality standards.
- Expert level knowledge and understanding of trucking/leasing industry.
- Expert level knowledge of basic software and applications including Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, etc., and ability to learn new computer programs quickly.
- Makes quality decisions and deals with ambiguity effectively.
- Strong business acumen with ability to analyze, prioritize, identify, create, and execute solutions.
- Excellent at directing others, developing direct reports and conflict management.
- Demonstrates good composure, patience, and compassion for direct reports and peers.

The total pay range for this position is $168,096 to $210,120.
