Job description
This position is responsible for the recording the cost of newly-acquired fixed assets (both tangible and intangible), tracking existing fixed assets, recording depreciation, and accounting for the disposition of fixed assets per company policy and GAAP. The Fixed Asset Staff Accountant also performs monthly tasks related to monthly, quarterly and annual closing process.
Responsibilities
- Daily review of Accounts Payable transactions posted to Fixed Asset clearing account to identify valid capital assets. This includes but is not limited to ensuring the information on the purchase order and invoice documentation match.
- Communications with business owners to identify additional required data elements for the accurate setup and creation of capital assets.
- Prepare the asset creation and adjustment templates for posting to the Fixed Asset sub ledger system. This includes appropriately classifying asset types and determining useful life per GAAP and company policy.
- Identify monthly transfers/disposals, impairments of assets and process transaction into the FA sub-ledger.
- Review all newly created leasehold and leased equipment assets and update asset life to match remaining terms of equipment contracts and leases.
- Run all monthly Asset Reports (Disposal, Additions, Transfers, and Adjustments) and prepare rollforward schedule
- Prepare month end journal entries and account reconciliations for Fixed Asset related accounts.
- Ad-Hoc projects as needed.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Must possess good verbal and written communication skills; be highly attentive to details with demonstrated ability to meet obligations with confidentiality, integrity, and sensitivity
- Must possess interpersonal skills necessary to work well within a team environment
- Ability to effectively communicate information, both via email and verbally, when responding to inquiries from both internal and external clients
- Ability to operate a personal computer, telephone system, ten key calculator/adding machine, copier and fax machine
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment

Requirements
- Minimum of 1-3 years of accounting experience in Fixed Assets Required.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Word Experience with Oracle Financial ERP PREFERRED.
- Highly proficient in MS Excel with proven experience using pivot tables, sumif formula and vlookup
- Successful applicants will be asked to complete a short test to verify Excel skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
