Job Summary:

Provides task direction and general oversight of installation, repair, and maintenance of plant machinery, equipment, and physical structures related to aggregate quarry and plant crushing operations; also assists with general plant/quarry operations as needed.   

Main Responsibilities

• Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
• Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies 
• Observe safety procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly
• Provide direction to other mechanics for completion of maintenance tasks
• Assist with maintenance planning process and make recommendations to quarry management regarding preventative maintenance and repair schedules
• Maintain documentation related to preventative maintenance and repair program
• Effective communicator with others in person, over the phone, and on company radio channels 
• Perform manual/physical tasks required in plant operation and maintenance activities
• Work closely with plant operators, equipment operators, drivers and others in completion of assigned tasks
• Maintain plant equipment and facilities to meet operating requirements and objectives
• Visually inspect and test plant machinery and equipment
• Perform maintenance mechanic assignments on plant equipment and facilities
• Collect data for preventative and predictive plant maintenance projects
• Perform welding and cutting assignments, including fabrication for plant equipment and structures, and make repairs to worn processing equipment according to plant standards
• Inspect lubrication of mechanical equipment, record data for running equipment, take lab samples as required, drain oil and change oil and filters on all equipment oil reservoirs
• Operate mobile heavy industrial equipment and/or company vehicles used to complete maintenance and perform other tasks involved in plant maintenance and operation as required
• Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational/tech school training preferred
• Valid drivers’ license with ability to maintain a clean driving history required
• MSHA certification or ability to obtain certification required

Skills:

• 5+ years of mechanical maintenance experience with aggregate processing (crushing) plant equipment 
• Proficiency in operation industrial and heavy equipment preferred
• Proficiency with mobile devices and other technology used in daily operations
• Ability to read and interpret signage and/or written instructions (safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.)
• Intermediate to Journey-level mechanical skill related to industrial plant equipment
• Ability to problem-solve and recommend solutions
• Ability to direct/supervise the work of others and provide general performance feedback
• Ability to collaborate with others and clearly communicate information
• Intermediate welding skill preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
• Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
• Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle, and manipulate objects
• Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear) 
• Regularly required to read and understand signage, labels, and written instructions
• Regularly required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 
• Regularly required to stand/work on feet for long periods, and walk across uneven terrain
• Occasionally exposed to working from high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock
• Mining environment; regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, airborne particles, fuel/chemicals, loud noise, moving equipment/parts, and vibration
