Job description
Summary – basic function of the role
Responsible for operation of cutting and sewing material and assembling foamand covers to produce quality products by performing the following duties.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate and tend equipment to cut, sew, and/or stuff and adjust machine functions as necessary using dials, pedals, levers, panel buttons, etc.
- Monitor quality throughout the shift by inspecting each part before and after it is produced for dirt, debris, and quality.
- Keep supplies readily available and organized.
- Understand the handling of product and proper methods of cutting, stitching and stuffing according to work instructions or supervisor’s instructions.
- Count, sort and stack finished work pieces and dispose of waste material.
- Clearly label raw material, work in progress, and finished goods.
- Comply with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Lock Out, and all other Safety requirements.
- Consistently adhere to and support company policies, Work Instructions and/or other procedures, and ISO requirements.
- Compliance with all local, state and federal requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Competencies -identify the competencies that are most critical for success in the role.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
- Ability to read a tape measure required.
- Ability to read and understand patterns and prints.
- High level of mechanical aptitude.
- Flexibility to rotate shifts as required.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; maintain effective working relationships.
Education and Experience
Education Requirements : High School diploma or GED preferred.
Experience Requirements : 6+ months of industrial sewing and/or working in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Demands
- Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required
Work Environment
Primary work environment is non-temperature controlled workshop/manufacturing facility where following appropriate safety protocols at the location would be required. Employee will be exposed to heavy levels of noise in workshop.
