Senior Accountant - Indirect Taxation

Job description

Our client, a leading global accounting firm, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant specializing in Indirect Taxation. This position will be based in our client's office in the heart of the financial district of New York City. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing and advising clients on all indirect tax matters, including sales tax, VAT, GST, and other related taxes. They will work closely with clients to review and analyze their tax positions, provide recommendations on compliance, and develop solutions to minimize tax liabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Provide expert advice and guidance to clients on indirect tax regulations, laws, and compliance requirements.
• Review client tax positions and identify potential areas of risk or non-compliance.
• Collaborate with clients to develop and implement strategies to optimize their indirect tax positions.
• Prepare and review indirect tax returns and related documentation.
• Conduct in-depth research on complex indirect tax issues and provide timely and accurate analysis.
• Stay current with changes in indirect tax laws and regulations and communicate updates to clients.
• Assist with client audits and respond to tax authorities on behalf of clients.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients and provide excellent client service.
• Train and mentor junior staff members.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments in indirect taxation.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
• Certification in taxation (CPA, CMA, or similar) is required.
• At least 5 years of experience in indirect tax compliance and advisory services in a professional accounting firm.
• Strong knowledge of US and international indirect tax laws and regulations, including sales tax, VAT, GST, and other related taxes.
• Experience with tax research tools and software.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
