Position Summary/Description:

The Data Analyst reports to the Assistant Dean for IT and provides data analysis and reporting support for the entire school of dentistry. The position conducts analyses to understand the business needs of each unit before gathering data, performing statistical analysis (using Excel, SAS , R and other software as needed), and developing visualization tools and reporting dashboards (using Tableau, SQL and other software) in the areas of academics, research, patient care & clinical operations, finance, and other administrative support services. The position collaborates with the ASOD (Adams School of Dentistry) IT department's application developers and infrastructure team to achieve these goals.

Primary duties include collection, validation, and reporting of the school's academic, operational and financial data; development and maintenance of data infrastructures to support reporting; and regular data extraction, manipulation, analysis, visualization and interpretation of results. The Data Analyst also assures the accuracy and integrity of data and assists in support and training with end users to maximize their ability to use the decision support systems and/or dashboards.

The Data Analyst provides expertise in the creation of business intelligence dashboards and reports that support the mission of teaching, research, service and patient care. In alignment with that goal, the position works closely with the Director of Institutional Effectiveness and other members of the ASOD community to define data analytic needs and reporting requirements.

Education and Experience:

Master's degree in information science, statistics, computer science, business administration, or other related discipline. For candidates demonstrating comparable professional-level experience, will accept a relevant undergraduate degree and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. 

Experience with querying data systems. Experience in analysis and reporting of educational data, with software such as SAS , SQL , R, Tableau, and Excel. Experience in survey design and development in software, such as Qualtrics. Experience with data visualization software, such as Tableau. Previous work experience in higher education. This position must be able to maintain privacy of confidential or sensitive data in compliance with FERPA and HIPAA , and support compliance with the Commission on Dental Accreditation ( CODA ) standards and other regulations.
