ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Billeting Aide for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Shemya Island in Alaska.
This is a rotational position in which the selected employee will work a schedule with 3 months on-site at Earackson Air Station (EAS), located in Sheyma, AK and 1 month off unpaid. While working on-site, housing is provided in the form of a dormitory facility. All meals are furnished through the cafeteria.
Transportation to Earackson Air Station (EAS), from Anchorage, AK is provided by government sponsored aircraft.
If you live outside of Anchorage, you are responsible for your own transportation to get to Anchorage, AK. Summary The Billeting Aide cleans lodging, kitchen, and dining facilities. This position also performs desk clerk duties (checking guests in/out), collects/reports charges according to Air Force policy, and serves as a visitor liaison at Eareckson Air Station. The incumbent provides food service support as well.
Essential Duties Job Functions - Cleans and dusts furniture, blinds, and other surfaces.
- Collects soiled linens for laundering; sorts, counts, folds, marks, and transports them.
- Performs weekly linen exchanges.
- Makes beds and turns mattresses.
- Arranges furniture and hangs drapes.
- Cleans and polishes bathroom fixtures.
- Spot-cleans walls and windows.
- Empties trash and transports it to pick-up areas.
- Replenishes room supplies.
- Operates cleaning equipment (automatic floor machines, commercial vacuums, wet mops, large wringers) and uses relevant tools, chemicals, and supplies.
- Mops floors and vacuums carpets to maintain cleanliness and control bacteria.
- Reports needed repairs to equipment, furniture, buildings, and fixtures.
- Maintains assigned equipment and requests repairs when needed.
- Answers customer service inquiries in person and by phone.
- Performs assigned kitchen duties including:
- Cleaning hoods,splash areas,and grills.
- Maintaining cleanliness of ovens,display cases,beverage machines,coolers,and freezers.
- Cleaning kitchen equipment (kettles,dishes,silverware).
- Cleaning/sanitizing kitchen tables and shelves.
- Cleaning grease traps and introducing drain relief at day's end.
- Mopping/vacuuming kitchen and dining areas.
- Transports kitchen and food supplies to the dining facility and cold storage upon delivery, when needed.
- Retrieves daily food supplies from cold storage.
- Stocks coolers and snack areas in the dining facility.
- Fills condiment dispensers.
- Prepares salads, sandwiches, and other self-service food items.
- Performs other related work as assigned.
Accountable For Knowledge of common practices in an industrial kitchen environment, laws and regulations pertaining to food handling and safety, front desk duties, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and performing assigned duties in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Work Conditions - Must be able to talk and hear to follow instructions,provide information,and respond to safety warnings.
- Physical requirements include standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting, and smelling.
Requirements Mandatory - High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of service industry experience.
- Food Handlers card.
- U.S. citizen.
- Must be able to regularly lift/move up to 35 pounds without, and heavier objects with, assistance.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a National Agency Check with Inquires.
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
Preferred - Previous experience working on a military installation.
- Previous experience working in a high-volume institutional setting.
- Previous experience working in a remote location.
