Holman Logistics is looking for a Business Development Manager (BDM) who can do all of that while maintaining a service mindset, as well as a strong drive to succeed. This person would be based in our Federal Way, WA Support Center office, but would work with our leaders across the country. The Business Development Manager will play a key role in building relationships that drive new business growth for Holman. As the initial Holman contract, the Business Development Manager will primarily be responsible for supporting “top-of-funnel” business relationships by identifying new leads, establishing initial contacts, and qualifying opportunities for further exploration. The BDM will leverage support from the President, VP of Business Development, and Marketing Manager.
Essential Functions Statement(s) - Identifies potential clients in the target market and completes appropriate research on the prospective client’s business needs.
- Under the guidance of the VP of Business Development and Company President, analyzes business needs and articulates how Homan can provide solutions to prospective clients.
- Develops relationships with prospective clients, while maintaining existing client relationships.
- Maintains a “forward-thinking” and future-state mindset, seeking to drive the company forward and the improve market share that Holman impacts. Looks for “out-of-the-box” solutions to serve our customers (or bring in new customers) and works directly with company leadership to meet customer needs in creative and meaningful ways.
- Interacts with and presents new ideas and/or solutions to prospective clients, including calling upon business executives and presenting a clear business value/business case.
- Partners and collaborates with Division Managers to create contract-winning proposals for current and prospective clients.
- Communicates client needs and demands to Support Center leadership.
- Stay informed of analytic best practices across the industry and provide effective information to assist the company and our customers in achieving development goals.
- Work with customers to ensure superior satisfaction by providing deep analytics and contributing to problem-solving through findings.
- Utilizing Salesforce, BDM responds rapidly to clients’ requests, needs, and/or opportunities. Tracks all contacts, scheduling appointments, and maintains notes within Salesforce.
- Forecasts and tracks client account metrics.
- Exercises a data-centric approach to gather customer insights and use data to improve future business development campaigns and results.
- Builds a robust new business pipeline, seeking to exceed financial expectations.

SKILLS & ABILITIES - Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, or Marketing. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Experience: Five (5) years of previous work experience in business development in a 3PL, distribution, or warehouse environment. Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Green Belt. Certified preferred.
- Computer Skills: Advanced computer skills. Strong working knowledge of MS Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word. Ability to master internal computer systems.
