Nippon Curry serves an authentic, award-winning Japanese curry from our first brick-and-mortar location in the Marina District of San Francisco. We will soon open our 2nd shop in Berkeley and are looking for a top-notch restaurant manager to oversee the daily operations and awesome front-of-house staff who wish to work full-time or part-time. This is an exciting opportunity to work at a new location directly across the street from the UC Berkeley Sather gate.
The restaurant manager will be tasked with creating memorable dining experiences for our customers, continually improving our quality of service, and helping our team reach its full potential. The restaurant manager will be a cheerful, positive-minded individual who understands true "omotenashi". You’ll be responsible for driving sales, managing promotions, taking inventory and ordering from our vendors, hiring/training new hires, scheduling staff, managing dine-in and 3rd party delivery, following company policy, cleaning, and communicating with the kitchen and upper management.
Front of House Cashiers will be responsible for taking orders using a POS system, serving customers, keeping the restaurant clean and tidy, and ensuring that the customers have a positive dining experience.
Manager and FOH Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive sales revenue
- Passion for serving customers
- Ensuring staff delivers high-level customer service and "omotenashi"
- Training on POS, procedures, and rules for service
- Maintaining safety and food quality standards
- Keeping customers happy and handling complaints
- Organizing schedules and checking time cards
- Ensuring that working and dining areas are kept VERY clean
- Ordering supplies while staying within budget limitations
- Managing vendor relationships and maintenance schedules
- Helping to manage social media presence and responding to customer reviews
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED required
- Able to do simple math and handle cash
- Able to set up, open, and close the restaurant
- Able to stand for extended durations of time
- Able to connect with customers
- Must be able to SMILE and say please and thank you
Candidates who have had experience working abroad or specifically in Japan/Asia and/or possess additional language skills should mention their experience in their cover letters.
About Nippon Curry: We brought an authentic, award-winning Japanese curry and opened our first shop in San Francisco in February 2021. We will soon be opening new shops in Berkeley, San Francisco, and San Jose.
