Job description

Position: Seasonal Lifeguard

Opening Date: Saturday, 5/25/2024

Last Day: Monday, 9/2/2024

Normal Shift Hours: 9:30AM to 6:00PM. You will be scheduled to work 3 or 4 shifts per week. Working on weekends amp; holidays will be required. Occasional early- (9:00am) or late-shifts (8:00pm) may be required.

Pool Operating Hours: 10:00AM to 6:00PM (8:00pm on certain nights, at certain pools)

Job Requirements:

1. Certification in lifesaving issued by the Red Cross, Ellis, or other certified instructor.
2. Specific training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
3. A lifeguard must be able to carry a 50-pound weight a distance of 50 feet.
4. Must be able to communicate effectively in English.

Job Description:
• Be timely
• Be courteous towards our guests, and project a professional image
• Maintain continuous surveillance of people in swimming pools
• Ensure appropriate headcount of swimmers
• Call out warnings to people who are in imminent danger, or who are violating the pool rules
• Provide safety information to swimmers
• Supervise swimmers to ensure that they are swimming within the safety protocols
• Spot hazards or potential hazards and take measures to prevent accidents
• Control and report unruly behavior and evict individuals not adhering to behavior protocols
• Perform rescues in the event of drowning or swimming accidents
• Perform first aid and CPR according to the demands of adverse situations
• Perform pool chemical checks to ensure safety and hygiene
• Vacuum pool, clean pool deck, scrub waterline tiles, and maintain other surfaces for cleanliness and safety
• Maintain accurate records of chemical levels
• Inspect and maintain rescue tubes, buoys and other safety equipment
• Ensure that all pool equipment is stored safely

Pay Rate: $15.50 per hour

Overtime Rate: $23.25 per hour, for each hour worked over 40 per week

Private Party Bonus: If you are scheduled to work at a private party (from 6:00PM to 10:00PM), you will be paid an additional $40.00 on top of your hours worked.

End of Season Bonus: $1.00 per hour for each hour worked during season; must be in good standing through Labor Day (Monday, 9/2/2024); will not be awarded if any unexcused absences, or for poor performance issues.

Returning Lifeguard Bonus: $1.00 per hour to those Lifeguards who have worked at Pot-Nets/Baywood in prior years; must be in good standing through Labor Day (Monday, 9/2/2024); will not be awarded if any unexcused absences, or for poor performance issues.

Lifeguard Certification Bonus: Amount varies; this is a refund of the fees that you paid to the Red Cross, or other certifying agency, to obtain your lifeguard certificate; must be in good standing from Opening Day through Labor Day (Monday, 9/2/2024); will not be awarded if any unexcused absences, or for poor performance issues.

Uniforms:

• The Company provides: 2 white “Lifeguard” t-shirts; 1 red “Lifeguard” pullover hooded sweatshirt; 1 "Lifeguard" sweatpants; 1 hat and/or visor.
• The Lifeguard must provide: Swim trunks or Swimsuits (red, "Lifeguard" markings); Sunglasses; sunscreen.
