Min Rate = $19.89 / Max Rate = $28.84 *Placement is in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Units Agreement.

 

The Radiology Technologist Aide (RTA) is a crucial piece of the Radiology workflow, encompassing multiple areas within the Radiology department. The Radiology Technologist Aide is responsible for the clerical duties within the file room such as answering and directing phone calls appropriately, pushing images as necessary to outside hospitals, organizing necessary patient paperwork, performing PACS exceptions, and more. The RTA also acts as the liaison between the patient, doctor and staff for several different communication needs with emphasis on strong interpersonal skills as the face of the radiology department. The RTA also serves as a clinical resource assistant to the CT and MRI techs whom they work alongside. The RTA assists in moving, positioning and transporting patients as necessary.

  1. Practices film management procedures according to established guidelines and privacy/HIPPA regulations, to include but not limited to CD burning, electronic image transfers, and image/report sign out duties.
  2. Maintains updated physician directories for batch reports.
  3. Answers phones politely and promptly while striving to maintain confidentiality.
  4. Enters patient information into Radiology Information System (RIS) as required (scanned forms, orders worksheets, lab results, etc.).
  5. Enters orders into RIS, according to signed MD orders (using correct account number).
  6. Ensures proper authorization and CPT codes are obtained prior to patient appointment for the relevant areas.
  7. Schedules outpatient Radiology exams according to the established procedures.
  8. If assigned to satellite area (i.e.: Valcour, Consumer Square Open MRI, etc.) will follow established site-specific procedures/security.
  9. Assists in moving patients and transporting as necessary in Radiology using safe patient handling technique.
  10. Will perform registration functions accurately and in a timely manner.
  11. Call patients to confirm appointments and exam preparations and obtain screening information when applicable.
  12. Collaborates with external and internal referring offices to expedite patient appointments within Radiology.
  13. Manages and prioritizes the critical findings list.
  14. Provides proper and timely communication to the ED for all “red folder" exams.
  15. Other duties as assigned.
  1. High school graduate required.
  2. 2 years of Radiology clerical experience preferred.
  3. BLS certifed or become BLS certified within 6 months of hire
  4. Positive interpersonal communication skills, written and oral required.
  5. Prior experience with radiology scheduling preferred.
  6. Ability to schedule radiology exams as required.
  7. Ability to make appropriate decisions with a moderate amount of supervisory direction required.
  8. Background in medical terminology preferred.
  9. Performs front desk reception duties, acting as a radiology liaison with patients and families; directs patients to specific subsections of Radiology.
  10. Safe patient handling experience required and the ability to transport patients.
  11. Knowledge with using PACS system and PACS exceptions preferred.
  12. Exceptional versatility and knowledge of clerical operations throughout radiology

  As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
