FT Faculty, Computer and Information Sciences, Cybersecurity

Division of STEM & Business

MCCC/MTA unit position

SALARY: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the MCCC/MTA collective bargaining agreement. Position is subject to funding availability. Full-time employees have opportunities to teach for extra pay in the fall, spring, and summer terms with pay determined by the collective bargaining agreement. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

North Shore Community College invites applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty opening in the Computer & Information Sciences Department. The department offers courses and programs in computer science, computer networking, cybersecurity, computer programming, database management. This faculty member will participate in the teaching, effective delivery and further development and enhancement of the departmental offerings.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Teach Computer Science courses in one or more of the following areas: cybersecurity, Cisco networking, computer programming, data analysis, and others as assigned by the Division Dean in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  2. Utilize effective teaching strategies to maximize student retention and success, develop critical thinking skills and support a learner-centered environment.
  3. Participate in the development, implementation and assessment of pedagogical methods that facilitate student understanding and retention of computer science related concepts.
  4. Participate in the development and effective delivery of new courses (face-to-face, online and hybrid) as well as in the evaluation and on-going revision of current curricula via program review.
  5. Assist in determining appropriate student learning outcomes for various computer science courses and programs. Actively participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes at all levels.
  6. Observe all college and departmental computer laboratory requirements, and provide a safe and appropriate computer laboratory experience for all students.
  7. Work collaboratively with faculty and staff from other departments and disciplines.
  8. Provide academic advisement to traditional and nontraditional students.
  9. Participate in appropriate college service activities (e.g. committee membership, development of/enhancement to courses/programs and/or resources, program review, recruitment and retention activities).
  10. Participate in professional development opportunities to maintain expertise and infuse new methodologies into departmental offerings.
  11. Participate in the coordination of departmental courses and initiatives, as needed.
  12. Travel between campuses as needed to fulfill workload requirements.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
