Job description
Summary:
The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) has retained Knowledge Services to provide an Epidemiologist. This individual will assist with a variety of activities to support different daily activities within the Center for Acute Infectious Disease Epidemiology (CAIDE), including infectious disease surveillance, syndromic surveillance, and data analysis.
Responsibilities
Activities may include but are not limited to:
• Assisting with case management of animal bite reports
• Conducting data analyses (i.e hospital-acquired infections, animal bites)
• Reviewing data for accuracy and completeness
• Analyzing data to identify trends and detect outbreaks.
• Preparing data reports and presentations
• Performing other duties as required
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
• Knowledge and experience using Excel to conduct data analyses
• MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
• Working knowledge of statistical software packages. (MS Excel/Access, SAS, SPSS, R, etc.)
• Working knowledge of REDCap, including creating surveys, modifying surveys, creating reports, importing and exporting data.
• Working knowledge of ArcGIS
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to be flexible to adjust to a changing workflow
• Strong organizational skills
• Multitasking and time management
• Attention to detail
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in public health, community health, epidemiology or other related field
• Experience with the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) and/or REDCap
• At least one year of graduate school toward an MPH or possession of an MPH degree
• Knowledge of and/or experience working in infectious disease
