Job description

System One has partnered with an esteemed financial institution in Tulsa, OK, in their search for an Accounting Specialist to join their team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will be well versed in bank reconciliations as they will be responsible for reconciling the company's bank statements with internal financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. The Accounting Specialist will also identify and resolve any discrepancies, investigate variances, and maintain detailed documentation of financial transactions. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software.

Responsibilities:

  1. Reconcile bank statements with internal accounting records on a regular basis.
  2. Identify and investigate discrepancies between recorded transactions and bank statements.
  3. Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data by verifying transaction details.
  4. Communicate and collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies and address issues.
  5. Prepare journal entries to correct errors and adjust account balances as needed.
  6. Maintain organized and accurate records of all bank reconciliations and related documentation.
  7. Analyze trends and patterns in financial data to identify potential risks or areas for improvement.
  8. Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls and procedures to enhance reconciliation processes.
  9. Stay updated on accounting regulations and industry best practices related to bank reconciliation.
  10. Provide support during audits and financial reviews by preparing documentation and explaining reconciliation procedures.

Requirements:

  1. Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. 
  2. Proven experience in bank reconciliation or accounting roles.
  3. Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  4. Proficiency in financial software and spreadsheet applications (e.g., Excel, QuickBooks).
  5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  7. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  9. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
