Position Summary:
The Director, USMC Aerial Logistics Program is responsible executing the US Marine Corps Aerial Logistics Connector program. The ALC program is a $2B+ competitive opportunity. The immediate scope of the position is executing the demonstration and engineering deliverables for the contracted Phase 1. Key internal tasks include forging an execution team on a new program from assets around the larger Airbus constellation. Key external tasks include ensuring complete and timely customer deliverables and developing a positive and collaborative relationship with key customer stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead ALC program activities: 40%
- Develop a Phase 1 execution concept, to include performance milestones to ensure success.
- Track successful on-time / on -budget completion of all milestones .
- Work closely with all departments personnel to ensure adequate equipment, material and personnel are available to complete required schedule commitments.
- Establish the management targets, metrics and direction to ensure program cost performance .
- Manage supplier deliverables as appropriate.
- Act as subject matter expert (SME) for all things related to Zephyr high altitude UAS payload support subsystems.
- Manage ALC customer stakeholders: 20%
- Thoroughly digest and understand customer requirements, and ensure a constructive customer dialog on how to best balance requirements, cost and schedule.
- Ensure a positive, collaborative and constructive dialog with the USMC PM and other key USMC stakeholders.
- Ensure successful collaboration among a complex and geographically distributed team: 20%
- Develop and implement processes, procedures and routines to maximize team transparency, collaboration and communication, with a particular eye toward off-site and international personnel.
- Develop relationships and a cadence of interaction with key functional support areas (e.g. Procurement, Engineering, Flight Test, Finance, etc.).
- Serve as an advocate for ALC toward executive management.
- Instantiate an overall sense of team.
- Position Airbus' ALC offering for success in Phase 2: 20%
- Develop a close and collaborative working relationship with the ALC campaign lead, to include whichever processes and routines best support a win.
- Provide strong support to any partnering exercises in support of the program.
- Additional Responsibilities:

Requirements
Education :
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Advanced degree preferred
Experience :
- Minimum of 15 years of relative experience working in a Program Management, Technical or Engineering capacity in the defense and aerospace industry. Demonstrated leadership skills with emphasis on communication and new process development and managing large projects within diverse work groups and diverse cultures.
- Preferred: Profit & loss management of all or part of an ACAT-1 prime contract with a US DoD entity; industry specific experience in rotorcraft or unmanned systems.
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:
- Required: Experience with Department of Defense programs or equivalent commercial FAA related experience and either technical and/or business background in Aviation.
- Must understand Department of Defense acquisition process and programs, government contracts, subcontracts, commercial helicopter production, logistics, and training.
- Proven ability to ensure execution among a complex multi-company, multi-national team
- Must be able to multi-task efficiently to ensure desired outcomes.
- A high level of integrity and an understanding of the importance of protecting the interests of the company while also assuring customer satisfaction is critical.
- Experience and comfort interacting with senior level company officials.
- Experience communicating complex concepts and decisions points to customers.
- Experience interacting with high level customer officials.
Travel Required:
- 30% Domestic and International
Citizenship:
- US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license)
Clearance:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance
Decision Making, Complexity:
- Price and terms & condition negotiations for contracts as large as $2B. Issue resolution with customer and suppliers for exposure as large as $20M .
Organizational information:
- Reports to VP Military Line of Business
Nature of Contacts:
- Involved Communication on a frequent basis with internal and external parties
Physical Requirements:
- The position requires lifting and carrying equipment up to 30 pounds. This position requires speaking, hearing, and vision. This position requires fine manual dexterity when working with small aircraft components. This position requires frequent travel activities to partners, suppliers, and test sites.
