The Towson University Counseling Center (TUCC) seeks to fill an Alcohol, Tobacco, & Other Drugs (ATOD) Treatment and Prevention Specialist position. This position will provide substance use counseling services, develop, implement, and evaluate alcohol and drug education and prevention programming/outreach for the campus community. Establish role as central liaison between campus departments in the delivery of alcohol and drug prevention programs. Conduct appropriate and relevant needs assessments, collect data, and evaluate services. Conduct alcohol and other drugs brief intervention sessions, assessments, and counseling services to the campus community. This individual will also serve on University committees where appropriate and participate in other aspects of the Counseling Center’s mission as assigned.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Implement primary and secondary prevention programs, conduct needs assessments, develop/create, implement, and evaluate campus-wide alcohol and other drugs education and prevention programs/outreach.   
• Assist in the central activities of the ATOD Grant, including but not limited to administration of surveys, purchasing and monthly budget and activity reports. Some evening and weekend hours to accommodate outreach/prevention programs.
• Build liaison relationships and collaborate with other campus departments to conduct prevention programs/outreach, such as, but not limited to, the Office of Student Conduct & Civility Education, ATOD Center, Housing and Residence Life, Greek Life, Athletics, Student Activities and Wellness/Health Center. 
• Work closely with graduate assistants, interns and the ATOD Peer Education program; strengthen diversity of programming with the Counseling Center’s Alcohol and Drug Peer Education Program.
• Further strengthen outreach and educational programming by staying abreast of Maryland state laws regarding substance abuse, misuse, abuse, addiction, and recovery.
• Provide counseling services for students seeking counseling support for substance use concerns on both a regular and emergency basis, and when necessary, during non-traditional hours, including, but not limited to crisis-intervention, assessment, brief interventions, counseling, treatment, and consultation in individual and group formats. Is on-call as needed for after-hours consultation related to emergency student mental health needs. Adheres to agency standards regarding case management, documentation, and parameters of service. Awareness of local and regional treatment and support resources for students seeking higher levels of care, or recovery support.
• Other duties as assigned.     

Work Schedule: Standard business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, however, must be able to work some after hours and/or weekends.

Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.

Qualifications and Skills

• Master’s degree
• One year of experience.
• LCADC, LGPC, LCPC, Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling or Clinical Psychology.
• An expectation for this position is to be fully licensed, or be license-eligible, as a mental health provider.
• Knowledge and experience with harm reduction strategies in addition to experience in a college or University Counseling Center are preferred.

Salary and Benefits

Starting salary is $59,000. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
