About the opportunity:
SWCA is seeking an Environmental Planning Intern for Summer 2024 to support National Environmental Policy Act – NEPA – and other environmental planning projects in either Albuquerque New Mexico, or Durango, Colorado. SWCA’s environmental planning internship position will provide the opportunity to develop a better understanding of environmental consulting and the environmental planning profession.
You will receive a preview of different aspects of environmental consulting such as client relationships, proposal development, analysis, GIS, report writing, and compliance with federal (e.g., NEPA), state, and local requirements. Established in 1981, SWCA has a long-standing presence in the United States, and is known for sound science and creative solutions.
Environmental Planning Intern positions require a demonstrated interest in environmental planning, a good attitude, willingness to learn, flexibility, and good communication skills. These positions provide great opportunities for an Environmental Planning Intern to enter and launch a career in environmental sciences, supported by leadership focused on the professional development of team members.
This internship will occur during summer 2024 (June 3 rd – August 16 th ). Candidates who can start earlier than June 2024 will be considered and those who can remain past August may provide additional value. In addition to project work, the internship program includes regularly scheduled presentations by SWCA leaders.
This is a paid, full-time internship. Interns will be paid $17.00 per hour.

An employee in this Durango, CO or Albuquerque, NM-based internship can expect an hourly rate of $17.00 per hour. Actual pay may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law. Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
