Under close supervision, employee will be trained and be expected to perform routine cage and drop pan changing, cleaning and sanitizing rooms and runs; store cages.
Incumbent is primarily responsible for physical environment of both the clean side and dirty side of cage wash areas. Operate and maintain equipment and vehicles, and maintenance of work area. Operate computer terminal. Maintain records on animal deliveries. Work in biohazard and radioactive areas. AALAS certification ALAT or higher preferred.
Ability to exercise diplomacy/flexibility in interacting with a diverse and multi-national scientific staff. Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
Flexibility to adjust work schedule to accommodate varying workloads. Ability to work weekends, holidays and overtime.
Skill to operate and maintain mechanical equipment, autoclaves, cagewashes', vehicles, janitorial equipment (i.e. floor scrubbers).
Ability to follow direction, be through in performing assigned tasks, and to organize work.
Ability to learn and apply principles of sanitizing and disinfecting.
Manual dexterity; Ability to write legibly; Ability to use metric system; Ability to operate a computer terminal and use telephone.
Valid California Drivers License. Work overtime, weekends and holidays.
Placement contingent upon satisfactory background check. Must be able to pass a pre-hire physical examination.
Wear protective clothing and equipment.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $45,957 - $58,568 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $22.01 - $28.05
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
