Job description

Pharmacy Technician to join a well-established and growing pure sub-specialty practice with academic affiliation. Practice manages a freestanding outpatient Cancer Center with extensive chemotherapy administration, Radiation Oncology, Pharmacy, and Research department. Responsibilities: Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed medications and supplies: placing and expediting orders: verifying receipts: and removing outdated drugs. Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Organizes medications for pharmacists to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions in the EMR. Preparing labels, calculating quantities, Maintains records by calculating, recording, and issuing charges. Ensures medication availability by delivering medications to patients and departments. Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Qualifications: Certified Pharmacy Technician. Valid license to practice the profession in New York. Thorough understanding of dosage administration and measurement, chemical compounds, medical brands, etc. Outstanding knowledge of MS Office and Pharmacy information systems. Good organizing skills. Excellent communication skills with a customer-oriented approach. Diversified job requiring alertness and ability to handle a heavy workload. 1 Plus year experience working with specialty Pharmacies or high-volume retail Pharmacies. Must be willing to complete training in Port Jefferson, NY location for approximately 4 weeks
