National Grid is hiring a LNG Operations Lead Engineer for our Gas organization in Holtsville, NY and Brooklyn, NY.
Job Purpose
The LNG Operations Lead Engineer for Downstate NY is responsible for aiding personnel at the Greenpoint and Holtsville National Grid LNG facilities to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operations of all Downstate NY LNG Operations. The LNG Operations Lead Engineer works with plant personnel on daily operations and troubleshooting activities as well as with Engineering and other key stakeholders on critical CAPEX projects.
Key Accountabilities
Participates in the planning, development, scheduling, and the performance of engineering related tasks for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities.
Provide technical feedback and information gathering for projects at Greenpoint and Holtsville LNG Facilities.
Must be available to travel between Greenpoint and Holtsville LNG Facilities as necessary.
Act as a key stakeholder in capital projects.
Prepare and/or evaluate standard operating procedures (SOP’s), policies, drawings, manuals, and other technical documentation.
Aid LNG Operations teams with troubleshooting process equipment and processes.
Aid director and supervisors with management and union hiring process.
Aid LNG Operations with regulatory and compliance issues including performing annual state and local audits and inspections.
Ensure regulatory, policy, and procedural compliance with plant supervisors.
Investigate and propose plant efficiency improvements.
Approve Work Permits, Job Briefs, and LOTO for Operations and Supervisors
Manage summer intern(s)
Manage contract hires.
Conduct and lead safety discussions, committees, and compliance assessments in accordance with department goals.
Work with contractors and vendors for efficiency improvements.
Create schedules and plans for projects or plant operations.
Host meetings and track action items as necessary.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Participate in training at Holtsville and Greenpoint facilities to facilitate possible contingency roles.
Potential to act as Downstate NYMaximoRep
SME for the region LNG on Process Safety exercises including but not limited to: PHA’s, LOPA’s, SIS, HAZOP's
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
Train plant personnel on procedural changes and updates.
Work with control room and plant personnel to resolve any deficiencies found.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is strongly preferred. However, candidates with bachelor’s degrees in other relevant technical fields, coupled with experience in plant operations, engineering, project management, and construction, will also be considered.
5+yearsrelatedworkexperience.
PreviousLNGorequivalentplant operatingexperience witheitherengineering, design,construction, operationsor compliance preferred.
Knowledge of relevant industry regulations, codes, and recommended practices, including CFR-193, NFPA-59A, and FDNY Rules preferred.
Must have the ability to successfully complete company sponsored training programs for LNG Plant operations, LNG Operator training, firefighting training, security training, HAZMAT training, first aid, OSHA and company specific operator qualifications.
Experience with Process Safety participating in, or performing PHA's, HAZOPS, LOPA, SIS analysis preferred.
Valid driver's license

Salary - $124,000 - $146,000
