As we grow, we are seeking an experienced and strategic Finance Director to lead our financial management and contribute to the organization's overall success.
Position Summary The Finance Director will be a key member of the leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the PHASE Alliance and its sub-entities. This position requires a seasoned financial professional with a strong understanding of nonprofit finance, compliance, and a passion for contributing to the organization's mission.
Responsibilities and Duties - Develop needed protocol and procedures that will lay the foundation and framework to guide the internal workings of PHASE Alliance. Ensure all protocols and policies are being followed.
- Ensure financial strategies align with the organization's goals and mission.
- Provide financial insights to inform decision-making and support long-term planning.
- Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration leadership. Create budgets for PHASE Alliance and the sub-entities. See that the organization operates within budget guidelines.
- Monitor and analyze budget variances, providing regular reports to leadership.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee the financial aspects of grant proposals, applications, and reporting.
- Manage compliance with grantor and contractual obligations. Prepare and deliver reports inline with grantor and contract obligations as needed.
- Coordinate annual financial audits and ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulatory standards.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets.
- Manage and forecast cash flow to meet operational needs.
- Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
- Optimize investment strategies for reserves and endowment funds.
- Ensure that PHASE Alliance functions in a fiscally responsible capacity.
- Support the PHASE Alliance fund development plan.
- Prepare accurate and timely analyses that capture and communicate fundraising results, variances, and performance trends.
- Develop and implement consistent inventory and cost accounting policies, procedures, and operational reporting/metrics.
- Coordinate and leads annual budget reviews, monthly reviews, and periodic forecast updates with leadership.
Reports to The Finance Director reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
Qualifications and Skills The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following qualities and attributes:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or relevant professional certification preferred.
- At least 6 years in financial management, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, fund accounting, and compliance requirements.
- Proven and exceptional fiscal leadership and strong business acumen. Fundraising expertise a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- High standards of integrity, honesty, and ethical decision-making.
