The Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Sciences is seeking an Administrative Manager. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The purpose of this position is to ensure the smooth and efficient completion of all activities required for effective administrative support and functioning in the Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Sciences at Oregon State University.

The Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Sciences ( FWCS ) is an academic unit in the College of Agricultural Sciences. The Department is composed of approximately 300 employees, including academic faculty, research assistants, classified staff, graduate students, and temporary staff. Over $9 million of externally funded grants and contracts are received each year in support of science focused on basic ecological research, conservation, and sustainable use of fish and wildlife and their habitats. The Department is the largest in the College of Agricultural Sciences, with over 1200 students in 8 degree and certificate programs, including one Bachelor of Science degree, five graduate degrees, and two graduate certificates. The Administrative Manager for FWCS reports to the Department Head and works closely with the Associate Department Head. The position is the Department's liaison to OSU Human Resources and serves as the supervisory manager of a front office staff of 4-6 classified employees. The position is responsible for many of the department's organizational tasks, problem-solving, and communications with faculty. The Department relies on its Administrative Manager for effective support services related to teaching, research, and Extension, including assistance with the development of policies and processes that maximize efficiency and service to faculty, staff, and students while following University and College requirements and compliance.

College of Agricultural Sciences faculty are committed to enhancing student success by engaging students in quality academic, research, internships, global studies, and other experiential learning opportunities. Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):

Typically requires Bachelor's Degree and 3 years' experience providing administrative support to an administrator

Requirements :

Bachelor's degree in business, communications or a related field and 3 years of experience providing administrative support to an administrator, leader, unit or business in a complex office environment.


Proficient in the use of networked computers including applications for word processing, Microsoft Excel or comparable software, electronic mail, and scheduling.


Demonstrated multi-tasking abilities showing skill at prioritizing work with the capability of paying close attention to detail.


Ability to work independently, under pressure of deadlines, with frequent interruptions.


Strong customer service skills


Strong organizational skills


Previous experience supervising and managing staff.


Commitment to working professionally and inclusively with people from all backgrounds


This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

Type:

Work is in a fast-paced office environment. Limited hybrid work on a regular schedule is possible, with agreement from the Department Head.
