Job Summary

Interested applicants are invited to join Atrium Health Physics and Dosimetry practice at Piedmont Carolinas Radiation Therapy Center (PCRT), working alongside a dynamic care team. Atrium Health's Levine Cancer Institute (LCI) provides patients with access to nationally renowned physicians and state-of-the-art treatments at25 cancer care locations, including 9 radiation therapy centers. LCI was named to US News and World Report's 2020-21 "Best Hospitals for Cancer Care" list. Coverage duties may include on-site and remote coverage at multiple facilities within the Atrium Health network.

Department Specific Summary

Piedmont Carolinas Radiation Therapy Center - a joint venture between Atrium Health and Piedmont Medical Center - is composed of two practices in Northern South Carolina with close proximity to Charlotte, NC. PCRT is one of the LCI's busiest radiation oncology departments, treating more than 700 patients a year. The department is equipped with three Varian linacs - 2 TrueBeams with FFF modes, Varian Advanced Imaging, 3D surface image guidance systems and one Clinac iX. Additional equipment includes a GE CT scanner. The department has active SBRT & SRS programs along with Xofigo and dedicated hot lab. Varian Eclipse and Aria are used for treatment planning and the electronic medical record. RadFormation products and MIM Maestro image management software is also available. A full complement of QA tools and technologies are available.

At Atrium Health, physicists are leaders within the department, but additional leadership opportunities are available through cross collaboration on research, physics & dosimetry working groups as well as existing and upcoming projects. Research opportunities in motion management, SBRT/SRS planning & delivery and optical surface monitoring are available. Upcoming projects include new TrueBeam install and commissioning, expanding SBRT to new treatment sites, coding and scripting, standardization and other departmental advancements.

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent to moderate heavy lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying in excess of 100 pounds. Requires frequent walking, standing, stooping and reaching. Manual dexterity required. Heavy concentration with computers. Environment is climate controlled. Exposure to radiation, chemicals, pathogens and patient body fluids.

Education, Experience and Certifications
Master's Degree in Medical Physics or equivalent field of study. Board eligible in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics by the American Board of Radiology or its International equivalent. Highly skilled recent graduates of CAMPEP accredited residency programs are encouraged to apply.
