Overview

As our Pharmacist at CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson , now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health,  y ou'll assist the Pharmacy Director in providing quality clinical services while at the same time controlling pharmacy supply expenses.  Services include warfarin dosing and teaching, antibiotic stewardship, renal dosing and patient chart review, etc.

You’ll build trust in these interactions by reviewing every prescription in your queue. We never rely entirely on the computer to check for safety; we always use an expert for the final check. That’s you. You’ll review prescriptions for potential drug interactions, correct dosing, patient allergies or anything that looks unusual in your opinion. Assuming everything is fine, you’ll send the order to a pharmacy technician to be filled and then check again before dispensing the medicine to the nursing station.

What you'll do...

• Responsible for making appropriate changes in medication therapy based upon approved guidelines by P&T Committee and Medical Staff. In addition is responsible for providing medication information to Medical Staff, Nursing Staff, Pharmacy Staff and patients.
• Review prescriptions in queue for safety and accuracy. Check patient’s allergies, weight, renal function, lab test results, etc. to ensure any medications prescribed will be safe and effective. Make recommendations if you see an error or know another medication would be better.
• Review any compounded or filled medications once the pharmacy technician has completed them for accuracy.
• Attend interdisciplinary meetings to provide information and be a pharmacy resource.
• Upon request, accurately and willingly provides comprehensive drug therapy consultative services.
• Provide CommonSpirit’s level of exceptional service to all patients or nurses filling orders.
• Additional responsibilities included in the job description. 

• Graduate of accredited College of Pharmacy.
• Licensed in the State of North Dakota.
• Experience with word processing/Excel software.
• Strong organization skills; able to work well and communicate with others; ability to delegate, direct and  maintain confidentiality.

Preferred:

• One (1) year clinical hospital pharmacy experience.
