This position will report to our Director of Student Support & Social/Emotional Learning. 

Teaching Job Responsibilities:

• Teach regular SEL/Health lessons in grades 5-8. Lessons include topics such as mindfulness, mental health awareness, identity, and human development and sexuality. 
• Collaborate with the Director of Student Support & SEL on lesson content.
• Provide 5-8th grade students with executive functioning support, including help with time management, planning, and organization, as well as scaffolded academic support to complete assignments. 
• Collaborate with the school’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts. 
• Collaborate with teachers to share SEL resources and strategies to support students across the domains of emotional acuity, cultural responsiveness, and healthy behaviors. 
• The SEL Instructor will also participate in the life of the school, including, but not limited to being an advisor, teaching electives, chaperoning day and overnight trips, supervision of break and/or lunch, and other duties as assigned. 

Teaching Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree required, Advanced degree preferred in education, psychology or related field
• A minimum of three years prior experience teaching in late elementary or middle school setting
• A background in facilitating lessons and conversations related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, as well as human development and sexuality desired
