Job description
Leads and directs all development, management, evaluation, and modification of the multifaceted activities, programs, projects, personnel, and fiscal resources Educational Employees' Retirement System of Fairfax County (ERFC), a local defined benefit pension, with assets in excess of three billion dollars; develops, manages, supervises, evaluates, and modifies all activities, programs, projects, personnel, and physical and fiscal resources of the office; reports directly to the ERFC Board of Trustees; serves as a spokesperson to the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) School Board, Division Superintendent, and Leadership Team.

Qualifications: Required
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a master's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
- Eight (8) years of progressively more responsible experience, some of which shall have been in a supervisory or leadership capacity in a related field. Experience in management principles and techniques, investment management, retirement and pension fund administration, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and accounting principles.
- Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws governing public employee retirement systems.
- Proficiency in the use of technology and data compilation, analysis, and reporting.
- Ability to coordinate a variety of policies, pension plans, and administrative matters between trustees, political leaders, and boards.
- Ability to devise and maintain an action plan to ensure that ERFC remains in compliance with all governing federal, state and local laws, regulations, codes, and guidelines for functions related to public pension plans.
- Ability to conduct complex administrative studies.
- Ability to engage in strategic thinking, problem-solve multifaceted issues by analyzing information, evaluate results, and choose the best approach to short- and long-term problems.
- Ability to supervise and lead with the capacity to inspire and motivate a team.
- Ability to manage the fiscal, physical, and human resources necessary to carry out the function and programs of the office to which assigned.
- Ability to establish and maintain successful collaborative working relationships to address complicated or long-term needs with culturally diverse stakeholders and/or Leadership.
- Ability to exercise diplomacy when interacting with trustees, county agencies, community members, and elected officials.
- Ability to facilitate meetings and/or present information to groups.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Preferred
- Public pension fund experience.
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification.
