Job description
SUMMARY: As part of a leading global aerospace distributor, this position is looked upon as the Subject Matter Expert in the overall Government contracting and business process and is part of the Distribution Product line management team. The Product line management team develops manufacturing (OEM) partner business relationships, creates and supports strategic planning efforts, implements key initiatives, develops annual budgets, and ensures alignment to contract compliance in order to maximize profitability while meeting market demand and OEM requirements. This position will primarily focus on targeting US and foreign government solicitations for aviation distribution aftermarket with an intent to grow through new business development opportunities.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead all government segment work across legacy and new acquisition entities for VSE Aviation.
- As SME, ensure compliance with company registrations, renewals and associations applicable to government business.
- Utilize various tools and platforms to identify, research and submit government solicitations.
- Formulate all aspects of large-scale proposals, in accordance with all RFP guidelines.
- Communicate regularly with government contracting representatives; negotiate in company's best interest providing all required backup information as required.
- Help develop, implement and track specific segment company goals and KPIs, take strategic action in line with company direction.
- Meet the internal plan for revenue and profit of assigned segment.
- Decision making on behalf of company up to approved dollar threshold.
- Develop relationships with manufacturing partners, negotiate best pricing on current scope.
- Identify, assess, and develop growth opportunities directly/indirectly associated with segment.
- Work closely with sales and customer service to understand market dynamics and submit informed bids.
- Work cross-functionally across all of VSE Aviation to review and communicate with internal/external stakeholders at business review meetings or as needed.
- Other duties assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree
- 7 years of relevant/technical work experience or
- An additional 3 year specific work experience in lieu of degree.
- 4+ year of relevant work experience in government bidding and contracting space
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with managing multiple priorities
- Remain calm and productive under pressure, customer-focused and able to foster productive relationships.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Effective time management, able to identify and prioritize tasks necessary to meet long and short-term objectives
- Fluent in English
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Master's degree
- 10+ years of government contract and bidding work experience
- Experience in aerospace related products
