CONTEXT OF POSITION
The Social Media Marketing Manager is responsible for taking charge of Ecology Action's (EA) social media presence across our suite of climate-focused brands. This position, which reports to the Marketing Director, requires creative and strategic thinking with a deep understanding of various social media platforms, trends, and audience behavior. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing effective social media strategies to enhance brand awareness, engage audiences, and drive business objectives.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Under general supervision, this position:
- Serves as a primary storyteller for EA and its sub brands across all social channels
- Researches industry trends and analyzes performance metrics, making recommendations for strategic improvement
- Supports development of internal resources
- Other duties as assigned
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serves as a primary storyteller for EA and its sub brands across social channels, with duties including but not limited to:
- Building a deep understanding of EA's mission, products, culture, and values to create captivating content
- Developing and executing a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with overall marketing and business goals
- Creating engaging and shareable content for various social media platforms using video, images, and custom graphics for a variety of audiences using multiple brand tones and voices.
- Developing content using inclusive language that considers all people and helps ease barriers to accessing digital information.
- Maintaining and reinforcing the brand's voice, tone, and visual identity across all social media channels.
- Fostering and growing EA's online community by actively engaging with followers, responding to comments, and initiating conversations.
- Partnering with the Senior Digital Marketing Manager to plan and execute social media campaigns for overarching business unit marketing strategies that further promote our services, programs, events, or brand initiatives.
Researches industry trends, and analyzes performance metrics and making recommendations for strategic improvement, with duties including but not limited to:
- Analyzing campaign performance metrics and adjust strategies as needed to optimize results.
- Utilizing analytics tools to track, measure, and report on the performance of social media channels.
- Providing regular insights and reports to the management team, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement.
Supports development of internal resources, with duties including but not limited to:
- Creating and implementing the internal editorial calendar for EA's intranet.
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field with at least 5 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be qualifying.
- Proven experience as a Social Media Marketing Manager or similar role.
- Experience in social media advertising and campaign management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- In-depth knowledge and applications of using social media platforms, content management tools, social media ad management dashboards and emerging trends
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Competencies in mobile video creation and editing that aligns to brand guidelines
- Proficiency in social media management tools, apps, and analytics platforms
- Ability to think creatively be a self-starter
- Ability to generate unique engaging content daily
- Analytical skills to interpret data and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Strong ability to prioritize & manage multiple projects with strong attention to detail.
- Methodical and analytical; able to translate problems into solutions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with project and campaign management platforms, preferably Asana and HubSpot
- Industry experience in decarbonization, energy efficiency, and transportation for B2B and B2C audiences representing B-Corps and non-profits is a plus.

The work environment is hybrid with expectations to be in office in Santa Cruz, CA at least 1x per week and out in the community capturing stories.
