Office: : Internship and Career Development

Reports to: Director of Internship and Career Development

Work Period: 12-month

Work Duration: 2.5 years (grant funded)

Hours: Full-time

Overtime: Exempt

General Summary: Serves as an integral member of a dynamic career coaching team for a diverse undergraduate and graduate student body. Acts as liaison for employers, alums and faculty within the STEM career communities and within the guidelines of federal, state and local laws and office, division and college policies and procedures. Reports to the director of internship and career development.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Builds a network of Agnes Scott College STEM alumnae, adopting an online system for sharing contacts and networking. Collaborates with SCW and other campus offices to integrate alumni and student professional affiliation data into the database for this network.
  2. Assists with the research project to explore the challenges facing women in STEM careers.
  3. Develops STEM-specific speaker seminar series, mentoring network including students, alumni and STEM career professionals. Finds and develops evidence-based training materials on quality mentoring,
  4. Serves on a holistic team of advisors to support students interested in pursuing post-graduate education and careers in STEM disciplines and on relevant cross-functional teams and/or as liaison to departments to promote the vision and direction of post-graduate success.
  5. Supports qualifying juniors and seniors with timelines, experiential learning and other preparation to apply to professional programs.
  6. E ngag es in relevant employers, graduate program pipelines and professional associations to stay current on admission and workplace trends for a variety of STEM careers.
  7. Maintains accurate records of student engagement and employer/pipeline outreach using multiple systems (smartsheet, starfish, etc.) in compliance with FERPA and other campus protocols.

Programming

  1. Collaborates with team and other campus partners (such as graduate studies advisors) to design, develop, and deliver education materials/workshops on relevant topics.
  2. Supports office programming and initiatives, such as SCALE and career fairs, as designated by Associate Director.

Employer/Community/Alum Outreach

  1. Serves as point of contact for ASC with employers and graduate pipeline contacts. Cultivates and fosters relationships with partners to develop internship, research, fellowship and full-time job opportunities for students by promoting Agnes Scott students to local, regional, and national employers related to the career community.
  2. Engages relevant employers and alumnae in innovative ways (interview preparation, mentoring pods, career treks, etc.) that build and maintain strong relationships .
  3. Curates a variety of tools (email, LinkedIn, Hand shake, campus portal, website, C anvas LMS) to create relevant content for STEM careers that promote, engage, and educate students on career information or opportunities.

REQUIREMENTS

Education : Bachelor's degree in an appropriate and/or related field is required. Master's degree in Hi gher Education, Counseling, Human Resources or related field s trongly preferred

Experience : 2-4 years of relevant experience in education, career services, or recruiting in technical sectors

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, and occasional moving of light objects. Work is performed in an office.
