Job description
This position is responsible for assisting with updating, maintaining and creating company policies and procedures, performing risk assessments for new or renovated equipment, performing and providing safety assessments for new and existing MM/DC/Fleet locations, researching questions or issues that come up having to do with OSHA or other governing bodies and how it affects MM/DC/Fleet, assessing and assisting in resolving issues brought up during audits or with questions directed at the Auditing and/or Safety Teams from management.
Primary Responsibilities:
Safety
- Maintain, update and assist in the creation of Safety policies, procedures and safety-related documentation
- Maintain, update and assist in the creation of training documentation related to the Safety and Plant Auditing teams
- Perform Safety Assessments whenever MM/DC/Fleet opens a new plant, or at an existing facility if assigned, and provide report with potential corrections
- Perform Risk Assessments for new or updated equipment at plants and provide report with potential corrections
- Make Management aware of any new or changing standards and how they may affect Midwest
- Research questions or issues pertaining to OSHA and provide a clearer, more informed picture
- Assist managers in investigating accidents and developing measures to prevent recurrences
Production
- Assess production facilities for any potential OSHA issues and provide report with potential corrections
- Utilize Risk Assessments to create awareness about OSHA and/or other Safety issues and work to resolve
- Work with plant managers and production assistants to correct safety issues
- Provide management with potential OSHA scenarios that non-compliant conditions could cause
- Evaluate production processes to determine if proper PPE has been assigned based on job hazards
- Any additional tasks as assigned by Lead Safety Advisor, Plant Auditing Manager, or GM of Reverse Logistics
- Currently enrolled in an Engineering or Industrial Safety program
- Knowledge of OSHA, machine safety and ability to learn about and analyze OSHA Standards
- Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with MM/DC/Fleet Managers and Team Members
