BLANK AST 4 (Undergraduate Student Academic Program Coordinator) Department Description
The Orange Cluster Administration is a large and complex academic unit within the College of Letters and Science, Social Sciences. It is comprised of the Departments of Communication, Linguistics, and Political Science, respectively. The Orange Cluster has 50+ senate faculty members, 10-20 Unit-18 & Continuing Lecturers, over 105 non-Senate academic employees of varying titles per quarter, 14 FTE career staff, 105+ graduate students, & 2500+ declared undergraduate majors.

Job Summary
Under supervision, responsible for providing advising and undergraduate program administration to the College of L&S Orange Cluster Undergraduate Advising Center. Provide advising support and direct students to appropriate resources, provide administrative support to the Orange Cluster departments, conduct course scheduling input, and maintain student and instructional databases. Develop and execute seminars, workshops, and training opportunities to support undergraduate students within the Orange Cluster departments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT - Work occasional overtime, including evenings and weekends, for department outreach events and to meet advising and administrative deadlines.

- Experience counseling and advising students in a University setting including academic planning and course selection techniques, study skills, and policies and procedures.
- Experience assessing college transcripts and accurately calculating course grades and grade point averages, balances and deficiencies. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Knowledge of university, college, major, design, general education and NCAA policy requirements and their application to specific programs of major.
- Knowledge of transfer admissions criteria and applicability of credit from other institutions; course registration procedures and other information and available forms.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
- Writing, editing and proofreading skills to answer correspondence, write reports and develop informational materials. Presentation skills.
- Computer skills using software programs (i.e. Microsoft Word and Excel) for word processing, maintaining databases, and accessing student information. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preferred Education/Experience:
- Knowledge of campus administrative reporting deadlines and of procedures related to advising and instructional processes. Experience with Banner, Student Portal, ICMS, Smartsite and faculty information on DESII. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Knowledge of university procedures related to undergraduate students' major requirements and/or knowledge of statewide, national, and international college and university programs and resources.
- Knowledge of UC policies regarding affirmative action and privacy of information.
- Skills to obtain, correlate and analyze data and develop statistics from a variety of campus sources. Skills to retrieve and assemble information for the preparation of reports, schedules, correspondence etc. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Background Check This position is a critical position and subject to a background check.
