Job description
The US Country Lead, Diversity & Inclusion in Clinical Trials (DICT) is accountable for establishing strategies for clinical trials that drive the recruitment and retention of diverse populations representative of the epidemiology of the disease in the US, in collaboration with development teams in Clinical Development and Operations, and in partnership with other relevant functions such as Corporate Affairs, Patient Informed Development & Health Value Translation (PID & HVT). In partnership with the US CSU Medical Leads, the US Country Lead, DICT will ensure that Clinical Trial Diversity is clearly defined and understood to drive the local US trial recruitment and retention strategy.
The US Country Lead will lead, build and implement internal and external awareness on the importance of diversity and inclusion in clinical trials and develop and implement process changes required to increase participation of diverse populations in Sanofi clinical trials. In partnership with study teams, the US Country Lead will provide guidance to project teams in setting the diversity and inclusion operational strategies, oversee program level strategies to meet those targets and support teams to implement these strategies throughout the execution of the trial. The US Country Lead will partner with Global Operations & Community Partnership Lead, DICT and the Global Head, DICT to set the multi-year vision & implementation strategy for clinical trial diversity.
The US Country Lead role will define key messages for the US, leading & participating in initiatives related to D&I in clinical trials; this role evaluates external opportunities, allocating budget & resources according to the overall strategy. This role benchmarks best practices across the industry, communicating and proposing optimizations internally. This role also works with company leads for relevant external consortia/associations (e.g., PhRMA, BIO, MRCT, TransCelerate). The US Country Lead is the primary lead for the US D&I clinical trial initiative at Sanofi and is the primary contact for the US clinical trial related D&I KPIs.
Although primarily focused on diversity of clinical trial participation in the US the US Country Lead should be aware of the evolving global requirements for diversity, contribute to the development of a global strategy and adjust local strategy accordingly.
The US Country Lead provides direction to the US Program Lead and reports to the Global Head, Diversity & Inclusion in Clinical Trials
Key Accountabilities:
Driving DICT vision, operations strategy and capability planning
Translating strategy into actional steps towards enhancing DICT operational effectiveness and performance monitoring
Implement therapeutic area level, program level and study level diversity strategy, taking into consideration the epidemiology of the disease, and considerations for site selection
Maintain, improve, and implement strategy
Proactively communicate project expectations, statuses and metrics to all key stakeholders
Develop and implement dashboard and metrics to track progress
Influence leaders and peers to change internal culture and behaviors to strengthen understanding of disease disparities and effects on diverse populations.
Interacts closely with Finance and Planning Management Office for budget and resource management
Manage the execution of multiple department-level initiatives – focusing on generating value and blending capabilities to increase impact
Ensures timely execution of critical tasks, milestones and deadlines. Follow-up with teams to continuously update the plan and prioritize activities as needed for the successful implementation of the project.
Perform risk management strategies as required and take necessary risk mitigation steps.
Support other aspects of the business as needed
Basic Qualifications:
BS/MS/PhD/Equivalent 6-8 years’ experience in clinical trials.
Knowledge & experience in clinical trial operations, managing patient enrollment initiatives or working with cross functional teams.
