Overview
The Paralegal will assist the legal department by providing clerical and research support services including document preparation, assembly, and review; coordination of contact between outside counsel and employees; interviewing witnesses; performing research, investigations, and fact-checking; maintaining calendaring for deadlines and other matters; and preparation.
Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities: - Meets with attorneys, employees, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
- Assists in reviews of materials from inside and outside counsel including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and interrogatories.
- Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis as requested.
- Interview employees and witnesses and prepare summaries of their statements.
- Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items.
- Assists the Risk Director in performing assigned duties.
- Maintain schedule and calendar of deadlines and due dates.
- Coordinates obtaining required information from various areas of operations.

Qualifications High School graduate or equivalent; previous office experience; computer knowledge and skills required; Must possess or acquire with in 3 months of hire the ability to utilizeBasic Microsoft Office skills required in Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
Extensive legal or business operation experience preferred; degree in paralegal studies also preferred. Must be able to obtain notary public bonds and other fidelity insurance requirements.
Requires typing, verbal and written communication skills; able to operate a variety of office equipment to include but no limited to fax, copier, scanner, telephone, calculator, computer, etc.
Must be organized and possess the ability to prioritize and multitask.
Education and Experience: - Extensive legal or business operation experience preferred; degree in paralegal studies also preferred.
- Must be able to obtain notary public bonds and other fidelity insurance requirements.
DCH Skill Requirement Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
WORKING CONDITIONS Physical - Prolonged periods sitting at a desk working on a computer and speaking on a telephone.
- Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
Psychological - Frequent contact with others: deals with internal and external customers, face-to-face discussions, email and telephone communications. Possible dealings with unpleasant or angry people, public speaking, and conflict situations/resolution.
DCH Standard Physical presence onsite is essential. Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range. Able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
