Position Summary: 2 Year Machinist Training Academy on site. All classroom and OJT Training will be conducted at Lincoln Electric Automation, Chattanooga
Eligible for 6 month pay increases during training program
Role qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED, prefer HS or College Vocational Machine Shop Training or Machinist Experience.
Position responsibilities:
- Operate CNC machinery and drill press, power saw, grinding machine, radial drill, and mill.
- Works off blueprints and job specs to operate machines.
- Performs in process checks of equipment so that adjustments can be made before a nonconformance occurs or a large number of parts are machined out of specifications.
- Checks measuring devices periodically with the shop standards to ensure they are accurate and to avoid damage.
- Cleans and inspects equipment to avoid breakdowns.
- Keeps work area clean and neat and complies with all safety standards.
- Measure machined parts to verify parts are to print.
- Observe and listen to machines during the machining process to verify correct speeds and feeds and to listen to machine for potential machine malfunctions.
- Lay out, measure and mark materials.
- Fit and assemble parts as per instructions or to print using hand tools and machinery.
Essential skills and experience:
- Entry Level Machinist must have the ability and aptitude to be able to operate a variety of machines (CNC machinery, lathes, milling machines, drill presses, surface grinders, and layout tools) to produce precision machine parts to print specifications.
- Must also have the ability and aptitude to fabricate, modify or repair machine parts.
- Also has the have the ability and aptitude to read blue prints, use micrometers (inside & outside), calipers, depth gages, layout tools and instruments, and be able to do shop mathematics including trigonometry.
Nonessential skills and preferred experience:
- Vocational Machine Shop Certificate or Machine Tool Technology a plus.

- Understand the Company’s EHS Policy and how it relates to this job.
- Be aware of OSHA & EPA laws and regulations as well as the Company’s Plant Rules and Regulations that pertain to this job.
- Work in a safe and environmentally friendly manner and observe all company EHS procedures.
- Immediately notify the Supervisor if there is any safety hazard, any equipment not operating correctly, or if there are any questions regarding EHS procedures.
- Attend required EHS training
