Job description

Summary:

Serves as subject matter expert and primary support contact for associated materials management functions.  Ensures business best practices are followed and assists with implementation of new systems as required.  Supports warehouse, internal and external logistics, and supply chain function with primary and secondary duties within the following areas:

Essential Functions: 

Warehouse:

Maintains the GMP warehouse in good condition. Makes improvements to warehouse organization and flow to optimize use of the space. Monitors inventory levels of GMP materials and supplies and ensures proper rotation of stock. Monitors consumable usage, executes cycle counts and places requisitions for required items. Supports customer, internal, and other audits as needed, e.g., by conducting warehouse tour and explaining department SOPs.

Production Support:

Monitors production schedule and kits production orders according to bill of materials. Transfers materials and equipment required by GMP Manufacturing and other departments as necessary among the warehouse, manufacturing area, and labs, adhering to relevant SOPs. Ensures changeover kits for common production equipment are maintained and available. Manages onsite hazardous waste.

Shipping:

Prepares shipping documents, coordinates shipments with couriers, and ships materials, including finished products, per applicable SOPs. Maintains knowledge of current import/export regulations as they relate to shipment of pharmaceutical goods to and from the USA. Manages shipment scheduling ensuring appropriate resources and supplies are available to complete as required. Processes dangerous goods shipments per applicable regulations.

Receiving:

Checks inbound deliveries from parcel carriers verifying delivery location, count, and structural integrity of containers. Unpacks and checks goods received against packing slips or invoices and other applicable receiving documents. Transfers materials among proper storage locations as needed and records inventory entries per applicable SOPs. Receives, inspects, and quarantines components (including use of SAP for material check in) per applicable SOPs. Makes continuous improvements to the receiving process in order to enhance efficiency and minimize waste.

Education and Experience:

1.         High School diploma or equivalent.

2.         3+ yearsehouse/shipping/receiving environment, preferably in a regulated environment.

3.         3+ years’ experience working with computers and basic software packages in a business function,  including Microsoft Office suite of software.

4.         Experience with SAP or other ERP systems preferred.

5.         Knowledge and experience with Department of Transportation (DOT) Hazardous Materials Training and International Aviation Transport Association (IATA) Dangerous Goods regulations.

6.         5 years internal or external customer service experience.

Physical Requirements:

Work setting: Warehouse and pharmaceutical research lab and manufacturing plant. Position requires frequent standing (up to 8 hours) as well as ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about warehouse, office, laboratory, & manufacturing locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of medium to heavy weights of 35-50 pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp and move for prolonged periods of time; visual acuity to use a keyboard, computer monitor, operate warehouse equipment and forklift, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time.
