Assistant Surveyor

Start your survey career at a Best Places to Work company.  Wood Rodgers is hiring an assistant surveyor to join our Survey Division located in Reno, NV.  This position is open for someone that is passionate about (or at least really likes) land surveying and remote sensing. You’ll be doing various tasks such as processing remotely sensed data, compiling topographic maps, and fusing data from all or our state of the are surveying instruments.

We take the traditional surveying and mapping approach while utilizing the most up to date surveying tools and sensors to convert field data to model the earth’s surface to another level by applying innovative ideas to give our maps more dimension.

What you will be doing

• Using software to assist in production of detailed topographic surveys utilizing data collected from conventional and GPS surveys, terrestrial scans, and aerial photogrammetry and LiDAR.
• Working within various software packages such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Global Mapper and Pix4DMapper.
• Interpreting field notes and sketches and processing field data.
• And of course, “other duties as assigned.”

 The Ante

• High School diploma, or equivalent experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field or working toward completion of degree.
• 1 to 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Must be proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D.

 Things we’d like to see

• Knowledge of remote sensing, topographic mapping, and principles of photogrammetry and LiDAR.
• Geographic Information System (GIS) experience.
• Trimble Business Center experience.
• Survey field experience.
• A strong desire to learn more about land surveying and explore as a future career.

It is our expectation that the salary will be somewhere in the middle of this range.

This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential and can fluctuate above or below the posted range. If there is an offer, the salary presented will consider several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, and training. Base pay is just one piece of the compensation package offered by Wood Rodgers.
