Ska Fabricating is looking for a motivated and hands-on Production Manager to join our Durango, Colorado location. As the Production Manager, you will oversee our production operations including the machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and machine building work centers.. This role combines leadership and technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and motivate a small but growing team of machinists, sheet metal fabricators, welders, and machine builders.
• Proactively communicate production schedule, priorities, quality issues, improvement opportunities with the team.
• Ensure work is completed safely in accordance with standards and best practices.
• Assist in establishing production schedules and participate in production meetings
• Evaluate production results and analyze production processes to identify areas for improvement and propose collaborative solutions.
• Coordinate with purchasing to maintain inventory levels, order materials, and plan equipment maintenance to ensure uninterrupted production.
• Ensure that work areas and equipment are regularly cleaned and maintained in good working order.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures to help document practices, standardize work products, and train new employees.
• Maintenance of employee records such as attendance, training, and general performance.
• Collaborate with production, purchasing, engineering, and marketing
• Safely operate hand tools and power tools such as drills, nail guns, circular saws, grinders, machine shop equipment, welders, etc.
• Participate in monthly safety committee meetings
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements / Qualifications:

• Minimum 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding and assembly
• Machining, sheet metal forming, and welding experience is a plus
• Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing leadership experience
• Understanding / experience with Lean Manufacturing principles is preferred but not required.
• Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
• Ability to reach overhead, bend stoop and squat frequently
• Strong computer skills required including production management software (ERP)
• Strong and effective communication skills required
• Able to lift 50 pounds
• Able to operate a forklift
